Zoo Bird, Wild Bird

There are many interesting birds in captivity at the Phoenix Zoo…

…and a local Common Moorhen was so inspired by all this finery, it decided to leave its rail roots behind and climb a tree.

      1. It’s the Victoria Crowned Pigeon, Goura victoria, Comes from north of me in Papua New Guinea. Nice to see a local bird, the masked lapwing (the grey, yellow and white one, top right) – we have them all over my region, even in my oaddock. And I’m coming to the conclusion that the common moorhen is all over the world (except Antarctica and the like)!
